Council tax is separate from LBTT. LBTT is usually a one-off purchase tax, while council tax is an ongoing household cost that continues after you move in.
When comparing properties, look beyond the asking price and mortgage payment. A buyer may also need to budget for council tax, buildings insurance, energy bills, broadband, factoring charges, repairs and general maintenance.
